Prayer to Saint Margaret of Cortona for Weight Loss

I want to propagate Saint Margaret of Cortona’s prayer and word.

Thank you, Saint Margaret, for your immediate assistance and intercession- I am in complete awe over your swift response, and I am humbled by your willingness and promptitude. I appreciate your help as I battle the demonic beast that is bulimia- this disorder has robbed me of 20 years of my life and has left me emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually feeble and exhausted. After turning to you, I am seeing vast and rapid improvement in my horrid condition. I am grateful. I am humble. Please continue to assist me. Help me defeat this sinful and gluttonous disorder for I am lost, and this disorder is much bigger than me. Help cure me of these demons. Please answer my prayers.

I want to share a special prayer with all those who are struggling with weight issues or eating disorders. Saint Margaret has been wonderful to me.

Prayer for Relationship Anxiety

Dear God,
I understand I have a problem with having anxiety in a relationship. The uncertainty of dating is often overwhelming and I mistake this anxiety for intuition. I must trust in you God, give me faith and strength to believe and trust in you with my life and relationship. There is fear, but help me overcome this fear and strengthen my relationship with my girlfriend. You are my savior, my guidance, my love, my Heavenly Father. I trust in you with my life. Give me strength to overcome this anxiety and have a beautiful, happy relationship. If we are meant to be, strengthen us to endure the challenges and help us fall deeper in love. If we are not, then allow us to move our separate ways and find others that are meant for us. I trust in you God. This is long distance and it may be harder sometimes, so give us strength. Either way, I know in the end I will be okay because you are right by my side and you uphold me with your righteous hand.

Home inspection and appraisal

Please lord- with all the stress we have- please help us to pass with flying colors on our home inspection. Minor simple fixes are fine, but expensive finds will not be in our favor. We want to be able to have a passing score on everything. Give us an inspector that is fair and kind. Not one that is out to look for many issues. Let the results be in favor of everyone involved. Please help the appraiser see the love and worth of our home and let us profit from what we have done to it. Please lord- the move is already stressful- but the inspection passing could make this msg so much easier. Thank you for your help and guidance.

Prayer for Release of Salary to Pay our Debt

Dear Lord,

Fear of dentist

Dear Lord,
I will be going to the dentist this afternoon. I am praying for calmness, peace of mind, letting go of fear. Lord, I had a bad experience with the dentist before and I haven’t been to one in years. Please comfort me and help me as I go through this today. Also, please let them work with me in paying them because I have no dental insurance. Thank you in advance for going before me and paving the way for this afternoon at 4. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Prayer for my research project

My Father in Heaven. I place myself under your feet, hidden in the sacred blood of Jesus. I place my supervisor and my research project in your mercy. I ask you to direct my supervisor’s heart and will towards my research project so he may guide and assist me in completing it on time. Do not look at my prayer directly oh Lord, but see me through the mercy of your son Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour. He who said, anything that you ask the Father in Heaven through my name you will receive: Here I am my Lord asking you wholeheartedly through Jesus’ name to please bless me with a miracle so I may complete my research project in time with the assistance if my supervisor prof. Prayer for HIV negative results

Heavenly Father, I come before you to ask for forgiveness of sins. I have done you wrong and broken your holy commandments daily. Lord, I pray you have mercy on me.. I am not worthy to be called your son but I beg for your mercy and grace.. Forgive me and heal me of HIV if i have any and also for everyone who is in my situation.. Lord, I fornicated and also had unprotected sex with three prostitutes. I don’t know what came over me but I believe this are the temptations I must overcome to prove the devil wrong.. O Lord, as I go for my HIV test soon, I pray you perfect your divine miracle in that test.. I pray to come out HIV negative and with your help and grace i promise to abstain from the occasion of Sins and keep myself holy for you.. All these prayers I ask for through Christ our Lord, Amen. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen..

Prayer for my husband to come back to me and leave his mistress

Lord,

Please give me strength, courage, and patience to save my marriage. Please remind my husband of our love and may the Holy Spirit open his heart and mind for reconciliation with me. Please take his mistress, Pat, away from our lives and our marriage. I also pray that Pat does not get pregnant with my husband’s baby. God the Father, may my husband chose me, his wife, over his mistress and be reminded of his love for me. And may our families and friends influence him to return back to me. Lord, give me strength because my heart is shattered and my mind is with constant anxiety. Please heal and bless our marriage so that it will be healthier, stronger, and more fruitful. Lord, I pray that you would not let our marriage end and that my husband will not ask for divorce. Jesus, You are the Lord of all hopes and I do not want to lose hope. I believe that You will allow for our marriage to be reconciled and for my husband to love me again. Lord, please bless me, Lyle, and our marriage. Amen.

The Rosary Prayer

The Rosary Prayer refers to a form of invocation used in the Catholic Church and to the string of knots or beads used to count the component prayers.

The prayers that comprise the Rosary are arranged in sets of ten Hail Marys, called decades. Each decade is preceded by one Lord’s Prayer and followed by one Glory Be. During the recitation of each set, a thought is given to one of the Mysteries of the Rosary, which recall events in the lives of Jesus and Mary.  Five decades are recited per rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. Rosary beads are an aid towards saying these prayers in the proper sequence.

A standard 15 Mysteries of the Rosary, based on the long-standing custom, was established by Pope Pius V during the 16th century, grouping the mysteries in three sets: the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, and the Glorious Mysteries. During 2002 Pope John Paul II said that it is fitting that a new set of five be added, termed the Luminous Mysteries, bringing the total number of mysteries to 20. These mysteries had been used by Holy Cross Father Patrick Peyton during the 20th century.  

  • The Glorious mysteries are said on Sunday and Wednesday,
  • the Joyful on Monday and Saturday,
  • the Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday, and
  • the Luminous Mysteries are said on Thursday.

Usually, five decades are recited in a session.

Rosary Prayer Structure

The Rosary is begun on the short strand:

  • The sign of the cross on the Crucifix;
  • The prayer “O Lord, open my lips; O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me”, still on the Crucifix;
  • The Apostles’ Creed, still on the Crucifix;
  • The Lord’s Prayer at the first large bead (for the intentions of the pope and the needs of the Church);
  • The Hail Mary on each of the next three beads (for the three theological virtues: faith, hope, and charity); and
  • The Glory Be on the next large bead.

The praying of the decades then follows, repeating this cycle for each mystery:

  • Announce the mystery;
  • The Lord’s Prayer on the large bead;
  • The Hail Mary on each of the ten adjacent small beads;
  • The Glory Be on the space before the next large bead; and

To conclude:

  • The Salve Regina;
  • The Loreto Litany;
  • Any further intentions; and
  • The sign of the cross.

Rosary History

According to pious tradition, the concept of the rosary was given to Saint Dominic in an apparition of the Virgin Mary during the year 1214 in the church of Prouille. This Marian apparition received the title of Our Lady of the Rosary.  In the 15th century it was promoted by Alanus de Rupe (aka Alain de la Roche or Blessed Alan of the Rock), a Dominican priest and theologian, who established the “fifteen rosary promises” and started many rosary confraternities.

The Virgin Mary

The rosary has been featured in the writings of Roman Catholic figures from saints to popes and continues to be mentioned in reported Marian apparitions, with a number of promises attributed to the power of the rosary.

In the practice of the Dominican Order, the beginning prayers of the rosary correspond to the beginning of the Divine Office:

  1. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
  2. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
  3. Blessed art Thou among women and Blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb, Jesus.
  4. O Lord, open my lips.
  5. And my mouth will proclaim Your praise.
  6. Incline Your aid to me, O God.
  7. O Lord, make haste to help me.
  8. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

St. Anthony

According to Catholic tradition, prayers to Saint Anthony were to request his aid particularly in finding lost articles. St. Anthony was known as a great preacher and theological instructor.  His sermons were so inspiring that his fame spread throughout France and Italy in the ten years before his death. Saint Anthony was known the “hammer of heretics” for his devotion to the faith. Pope Gregory IX, who canonized him as a saint in 1232, called him “The Ark of the Covenant.”  He is especially regarded all over the world as the patron saint for the recovery of lost items and is credited with many miracles involving lost people, lost things and even lost spiritual goods.

Prayers of the Faithful

Otherwise known as the Universal Prayer or General Intercessions, these prayers are introduced by the celebrating priest, then a deacon or another member of the congregation or the priest himself proposes a number of intentions to pray for, and the people respond with a short invocation such as “Lord, hear our prayer”. Finally, the priest says a concluding prayer.

General Instruction of the Roman Missal states:

In the General Intercessions or the Prayers of the Faithful, the people respond in a certain way to the word of God which they have welcomed in faith and, exercising the office of their baptismal priesthood, offer prayers to God for the salvation of all. It is fitting that such a prayer be included, as a rule, in Masses celebrated with a congregation, so that petitions will be offered for the holy Church, for civil authorities, for those weighed down by various needs, for all men and women, and for the salvation of the whole world.

The custom of offering such prayers is rooted in the scripture from 1 Timothy 2:1-6:

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time.

Saint Michael
Guido Reni’s (Saint) Michael tramples Satan.

Saint Michael the Archangel held an important heavenly role in doing battle against evil, protecting Christians against assault from the devil.  The prayer to Saint Michael originated with Pope Leo XIII in 1886.  Legend has it that the Pope received a vision in which he saw the great damage Satan would do to the Church and the world in the 20th century.

Pope Leo XIII called out to St. Michael for protection from the evil to come:

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael Archangel,
defend us in battle,
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, cast into hell
Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Variant English translations have “Holy Michael”, “Saint Michael”, “malice and snares”, “may God rebuke him”, “cast into Hell”, “all evil spirits”, “prowl through the world seeking the ruin”, and other differences. The English translation that was used in Ireland is quoted in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses.

Sunday 24 April 1994, Pope John Paul II recommended its use, saying:

May prayer strengthen us for the spiritual battle that the Letter to the Ephesians speaks of: ‘Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might’ (Ephesians 6:10). The Book of Revelation refers to this same battle, recalling before our eyes the image of St Michael the Archangel (cf. Revelation 12:7). Pope Leo XIII certainly had this picture in mind when, at the end of the last century, he brought in, throughout the Church, a special prayer to St Michael: ‘Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil…’ Although this prayer is no longer recited at the end of Mass, I ask everyone not to forget it and to recite it to obtain help in the battle against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world.

Pope Leo XIII granted indulgences to bishops and to priests lawfully authorized by their ordinaries who each day would devoutly recite a formula of exorcism against Satan and the rebel angels.

The formula of exorcism, which was then inserted into the Roman Ritual contained within it a quite different prayer to Saint Michael, of which the following is an English translation:

Formula for Exorcism

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

O glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, defend us in battle, and in the struggle which is ours against the principalities and Powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against spirits of evil in high places (Eph 6:12). Come to the aid of men, whom God created immortal, made in his own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil (1 Cor 6:20).

Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there a place for them any longer in Heaven. But that cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with all his angels (Rev 12:7-9).

Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of man has taken courage, Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of his Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory.

This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions (Lam 3:15).

In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most blessed Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

Arise then, O invincible prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and bring them the victory.

The Church venerates thee as protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious powers of this world and of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude.

Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

In 1902, a year and a half before the death of Pope Leo XIII, a new edition of the Roman Ritual considerably shortened the formula as a whole and in particular the prayer to Saint Michael within it, making that prayer a sort of preface to the prayer of exorcism.  The prayer was shorn of the preceding version’s paragraphs 2-6 and of the phrase “in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious powers of this world and of hell” in paragraph 7.

In his English version of the Roman Ritual, Philip T. Weller gives the following translation:

In name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
St. Michael the Archangel, illustrious leader of the heavenly army,
defend us in the battle against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of darkness and the spirit of wickedness in high places.
Come to the rescue of mankind, whom God has made in His own image and likeness, and purchased from Satan’s tyranny at so great a price. Holy Church venerates you as her patron and guardian. The Lord has entrusted to you the task of leading the souls of the redeemed to heavenly blessedness. Entreat the Lord of peace to cast Satan down under our feet, so as to keep him from further holding man captive and doing harm to the Church. Carry our prayers up to God’s throne, that the mercy of the Lord may quickly come and lay hold of the beast, the serpent of old, Satan and his demons, casting him in chains into the abyss, so that he can no longer seduce the nations.

Oh most noble Prince of the Angelic Hierarchies, valorous warrior of Almighty God and zealous lover of His glory, terror of the rebellious angels, and love and delight of all the just angels, my beloved Archangel Saint Michael, desiring to be numbered among your devoted servants, I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection.
I entreat you not to look at how little, I, as your servant have to offer, being only a wretched sinner, but to gaze, rather, with favorable eye at the heartfelt affection with which this offering is made, and remember that if from this day onward I am under your patronage, you must during all my life assist me, and procure for me the pardon of my many grievous offenses, and sins, the grace to love with all my heart my God, my dear Savior Jesus, and my Sweet Mother Mary, and to obtain for me all the help necessary to arrive to my crown of glory.

You said that I should be specific in my prayer and I acknowledge your word. I am here, Lord, asking your mercy to please provide me with a good job that I need and is within your will.

I will do this for your greater Glory, Oh God. I am very sorry Lord for all my falls of dismay. If I have doubted your commands and wills for me. Lord, I am coming to you today with a heavy heart filled with regret over the past, and anxiety for the future. I am out of work, and my finances are in deep trouble. I have made many mistakes. Help me to forgive myself, and others, so that I may make amends with all concerned.

Grant me peace of mind, so I can fill my life with your goodness and grace. Guide me toward a good job where I may fulfill my needs as a better and wiser person. Thank you Lord, for listening to me and helping me today. Life is not always easy, but I will strive to remember that You are always there to help me As you are right in this moment. Thank you!

Prayer to mend

Prayer to Mend What Is Broken

Heavenly Father, I call on you right now in a special way. It is through your power that I was created. Every breath I take, every morning I wake, and every moment of every hour, I live under your power.

Father, I ask you now to touch me with that same power. For if you created me from nothing, you can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in me.

Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection. Let the warmth of your healing love pass through my body to make new any unhealthy areas so that my body will function the way you created it to function.

And Father, restore me to full health in mind and body so that I may serve you the rest of my life. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Renew My Mind, Body and Soul

Lord, I come before you today in need of your healing hand.
In you all things are possible. Hold my heart within yours, and renew my mind, body, and soul.

I am lost, but I come to you with grace.

Lord of all power, I hurt. My body isn't functioning as it needs to function. I am in pain.

But You already know all that. I'm not coming to tell you what is wrong, but to ask You to do what is right and best for me.

A Prayer Against Disease

Lord, Your scripture says that you heal all diseases and whoever believes in You will not perish but have an everlasting life. Strengthen me, Lord, in this time of illness. Sustain him as he lays sick in his bed. When You were on Earth, you did all things good and healed all kinds of sickness.

The St. Jude Prayer is a very special prayer indeed. St. Jude was one of the Twelve Apostles, and in the Catholic Church, he is the patron Saint of lost causes. The Epistle of Jude in the Bible is filled with encouragement to keep the faith and remain hopeful!

So, when you’re down and out, and nothing else seems to be working, the prayer to St Jude is here for you. James 5:16 promises that the “prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective!”

The Prayer to St Jude

O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of.

Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of.

Come to mine assistance in this great need, that I may receive
the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations,

How to Say The Prayer

Praying to St. Jude is easy to do. Simply repeat the prayer written above making sure to include your specific intention where it says “(make your request)“.

After you have finished the prayer, if you’d like, you can make the Sign of the Cross. Some people also choose to buy a St. Jude candle to light while saying their prayer. While this can be a great way to focus your attention in prayer, it is by no means necessary, and it is a relatively new tradition in the Catholic faith.

There are more specific rituals when praying to St. Jude at a shrine, such as the use of a special oil while touching the statue of St. Jude.

“Almighty God, hear this prayer.”
Dear Lord, I offer you this prayer, to help me with my current relationship situation. Please take away all the pain and hurt in my heart. Fill it with love, joy, patience, and understanding.
Bless me and my partner, so that we may never surrender to whatever challenges that come our way. Fill our hearts with love for each other, and may you make each one of us realize each other’s worth. Please touch the heart of my partner,fill it with much love for me.
Make our complicated relationship become uncomplicated. I seek for your mercy and blessing that you may allow us to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Please make this feeling mutual for both of us. Lead us not into temptations. Guide us wherever we go. Always put us in each other’s heart and mind. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayer.

Miscommunication in a Marriage

Dear Lord, you know what path I am on right now and that I am in agony. I am having a disharmony in my married life. You have instituted marriage since You found that it is not good for man to be alone.
I deeply believe that You have given me this person to love and to hold for the rest of my days. The Bible has taught me that a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Come and be with us, Lord, for only You can make two broken hearts understand each other. You are the King of Peace and I know You are able to change any sad situation in my life.
Father, I know it is Your will that we should lead a loving and peaceful life with one another. Hear me, dear god, to fill us both with more love and to understand each other better to bring unity to our relationship. Help me become more understand to my partner’s needs and feelings.
Grant me wisdom that I may know how to deal with this unlikely situation so I can build a house in Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, O Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Family Unity

Dear God, thank you for the gift of family that you have given me. You know my heart hurts because of the disharmony in my family. I have lost my peace and my health because of the messy situation in our home.
I have no one to turn to but You, Lord. You alone can understand the hearts of Your followers as You have created each and every one of us. Only You can bring together the hearts of Your men together. Help me forgive other family members, O Lord. Let my family not defile Your name by this disunity. Help us forgive one another of the mistakes we have done to each other and bring us back together in Your name, Father God.
Fill each one of us with your love and understand so we can fully exalt Your name in glory. I know that you will bring back the peace and unity that was once present in our home. I ask this in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Heavenly Father, You created this world and all its inhabitants. You found that man is not good to be alone. I pray this to You, O Lord, that I am in need of a partner for my life.
You have showed us in the Bible that finding the right partner made numerous couples live a happy life. Bless me, Father, that I may build a family like theirs. I believe, Lord, that You do not deny Your children their joy and happiness.
