What Does the Bible teach us about Courage?

With the above Bible verses, we are instructed over and over again to be courageous and not fear, specifically because God is with us.

When we are following God’s lead and living life as he has instructed us, these quotes tell us that we do not need to fear because he will fight for us. When God is on our side, there is no force or power that can stand against him.

Having said this, there are also scriptures for courage that tell us there are times when we will suffer for Christ, but even then we are to be strong.

It seems that this strength and courage that God asks of us comes by faith in him–in believing that he is there with us no matter what we must endure. When we believe, we know that nothing can happen to us except he allows it to because he has overcome the world.

What Does the Bible Say About Anger?

These Bible verses about anger tell us that anger does not bring out the righteousness of God, but instead stirs up wrath, produces folly, and often results in evil.

Because of this, the Bible advises us to avoid being around people that are quick to anger and even bars them from any type of ministry.

The first place anger is mentioned in the Bible is where Cain was angry before he killed his brother. And Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land because he hit the rock in anger with his rod rather than just speaking to it as instructed by God.

In these Scriptures on anger, we are also provided with several tips on how to deal with anger when it comes. One I have used effectively myself is to rest and calm down, allowing a calmer head to prevail. We are also told to pray. And if we see anger developing in others, we are advised to use a soft answer and not provoke them.

So, what does the bible say about women?

These Bible verses about women provide a lot of insight about why women were created and what their objective is in the life if they are attempting to follow God. It shows that women was created originally as a companion and partner with the man as his friend to walk with him as one through this life.

Though women are equal with men in the eyes of God, they are to surrender to the authority of their husbands with the objective of loving their family, mothering their children, and ministering to the needs of others.

The Scriptures above tell us that women are to beware of vanity and charm; instead they should fear God and perform good works, walking in love, purity, holiness, graciousness, modesty, and self-control.

The Bible tells us that a good wife is a blessing to the man that finds her. As mothers, women are to be gentle with their children and to teach them. And the Bible tells us that the older women are to teach the younger women to love their husbands and children.

What Does the Bible teach us about Peace?

These Bible verses about peace specifically identify God as the God of peace and Jesus is referred to as the Prince of Peace. When Jesus came into the world, he brought peace between man and God through his work on the cross.

We understand from these Bible quotes that the source of peace is God himself and that we can find inner peace through the Holy Spirit who indwells us. When we seek out the spiritual and deny the sins of the flesh, we enter more into that true godly peace that is so much different than that offered by the world.

I spent much of my life seeking peace through things of the world, only to learn later in life of that pure peace that is found in God.

As Christians, we are also instructed to be at peace with one another and not argue and divide over insignificant issues. We should struggle to make peace wherever possible, knowing that the peacemakers are the true children of God.

What does the Bible teach us about teachers?

These Bible verses about teachers enlighten us first on the exceptional responsibility that one has while teaching. Due to the impact a teacher has on a student, one quote warns us that teachers will be judged with a greater strictness than others. Jesus is often called a teacher and he himself confirmed that he was one; the apostles were also teachers.

The teaching passages above also insist that the ability to teach is a gift in which the teacher serves others and leads by example with the objective to make the students as wise as the teacher.

It is the teacher’s task to study, handle the truth correctly, and teach accurate information while treating the pupil with respect. These quotes identify integrity, dignity, faithfulness, and lack of hypocrisy as traits that the teacher should possess. Overall, the teacher is warned about too much study that does not focus on the fear of God and living a godly life.

What Does The Bible Teach Us About Life?

These Bible verses about life range from the creation of man to the blessed offer of eternal life.

We discover that it is God who has created mankind by breathing into us the breath of life. Our life here on the earth is to be one of following God with an understanding that this life passes away quickly and that eternal life is what really matters.

I have often found some of these passages inspirational in my daily walk with Christ, especially the passages that claim the acquisition of anything the world has to offer is of no comparison to the eternal life of our soul.

Not only do these Scriptures about life describe God as the source of life, but Jesus is identified as the eternal life that walked among us. He himself claims that he is the only way to eternal life and we are told that whoever has Christ has life, but those who do not know him do not have life.

What do these bible verses teach us about death?

These death Bible verses really stress the finality of death and how our ability to act in this world ceases once we pass on to the other side. Whatever we are going to do in this world, we need to do now before we die. The quotes about dying make it clear that death came to all of us because of the sin of Adam and that when we die, our body will return to the dust from which we were made.

The passages further stress that we came into the world naked without anything and that we will leave the same way.

Though death of the body is final, it is not the end of hope in the afterlife. One verse about death above tells us there is a judgment sometime after death. And we are told in the Bible that Christians will be with the Lord upon death and that we will have the promise of eternal life.

Grace in the Bible

These Bible verses on grace reveal a lot about the grace of God and how it is obtained. Grace is given to us when we humble ourselves before God and it is given to us during times of need to strengthen us and help us endure affliction.

Sometimes grace comes through sacrifice such as in the case of Jesus coming to earth to die so that we might be saved. And it is through grace as a gift that we are saved and justified through Jesus Christ, receiving eternal comfort and the love of God.

It is by grace that we have received different spiritual gifts to benefit the body of Christ. Grace comes from God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ.

Paul attributes his own salvation and mission as a result of the grace of God. Understanding that grace so well, he often uses the grace from God as a blessing in his letters.

Sin in the Scriptures: What is Sin?

These Bible verses about sin tell us that sin is lawlessness, which is being disobedient to the commands of God.

In addition, if we know in our heart something is wrong or right, and we fail to respond appropriately with that knowledge, that is sin. We are even told that we get led off into sin by our own wicked desires.

The Bible Scriptures on Sin also inform us that everyone has sinned and failed to live up to the perfection of holiness demanded by God.

Yet, the work of Jesus on the cross can cleanse us from all our sins and place us in a right relationship with God. He sees all of our sins and nothing can be hidden from him.

Sinning can cause bad things to happen to us and if we continue in a life of habitual sin we cannot claim that we are in a relationship with God. Sadly, I once left a distinguished college after my third semester of biblical Greek when I found out they believed you could even fall away from God with unbelief and still be saved no matter how much you were sinning.

What do we learn about birthdays form the bible?

These birthday Bible verses reveal a consistency of celebrating birthdays among differing cultures and peoples from early periods of recorded history. Job, believed by many to be the oldest book of the Bible, tells us that Job’s sons celebrated their birthdays. We also learn from other biblical quotes that the Egyptian Pharaoh and the Palestine tetrarch (or local ruler) Herod both celebrated their birthdays.

The Bible also often references our length of life as years in many of the above passages. Each passing year is a subtle reference to a birthday as the beginning of measuring from one year to the next.

Though we can celebrate our birthdays, we are also supposed to remember that this time here on the earth is temporary. As wonderful as birth into this world is, we are told in one of the verses that the departure from this life to be with God as Christians is by far much better.

After reading through the friendship Bible verses, you can see what god believes is the true character of a real friend. Friends are closer than a brother and their love endures through all just as in the case of David and Jonathan in the Old Testament.

A friend will lay down their life for you and sacrifice self often for your well being. Having said that, a true friend will also tell you the truth and give you council even when you don’t want to hear it.

He cares about you and is happy when he sees you happy, and will often pray for you. Even in an intimate relationship between a man and a woman as described in the Song of Songs, the spouse is called a friend. These Bible quotes about friendship can teach us a lot about how we should act toward our friends, especially when we are Christians.

What Do these Scriptures teach us about Family?

In these Bible verses about the family, we find that both the family and having children are a blessing from God.

Colossians 3:18-21 is one of my favorite passages because it describes the proper roles of the man, the woman, and the children in the family relationship that we also find reinforced in other scriptures on family.

The man is supposed to love his wife and children with gentleness and kindness, the woman is to submit to the authoritative role of her husband, and the children are to obey their parents. And Job prayed for his children on a regular basis.

When there is a family unit, they are often effected by the actions of the other family members.

Sometimes the whole family is punished for the sins of the father, and an entire unbelieving family can be sanctified and considered clean simply because one of them is a believer.

Bible Verses about Worry

If we look around in life, we can certainly find many things to worry about, so any Bible verses about worry are helpful for us to learn about avoiding worry and stress.

When we examine Scriptures about worry, we find that much of our stress in life is not necessary and only makes our life harder.

If we find ourselves worrying about things, what should we do? How do we reduce worry in our life? God has provided answers to these questions in his word. We have gathered 20 important Bible quotes that are relevant to worry for your use. Some of these verses are instructions, others provide comfort.

20 Bible Verses about Worry

1.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” [English Standard Version, Matthew 6:25-34]

2.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28-30]

3.

“But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” [Luke 10:41-42]

4.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” [Jeremiah 17:7-8]

5.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” [Philippians 4:6-7]

6.

“Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”” [Isaiah 35:4]

7.

“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” [Psalms 127:2]

8.

“But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the LORD. Do not regard your servant as a worthless woman, for all along I have been speaking out of my great anxiety and vexation.” Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him.”” [1 Samuel 1:15-17]

9.

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” [Proverbs 12:25]

10.

“So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”” [Hebrews 13:6]

11.

“And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.” [2 Corinthians 11:28]

12.

“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,” [1 Peter 3:14]

13.

“As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” [Matthew 13:22]

14.

“Moreover, he said to me, Son of man, behold, I will break the supply of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and they shall drink water by measure and in dismay.” [Ezekiel 4:16]

15.

“And say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink water in dismay. In this way her land will be stripped of all it contains, on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it.” [Ezekiel 12:19]

16.

“When you depart from me today, you will meet two men by Rachel’s tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah, and they will say to you, ‘The donkeys that you went to seek are found, and now your father has ceased to care about the donkeys and is anxious about you, saying, “What shall I do about my son?”‘” [1 Samuel 10:2]

What Does the Bible teach us about Worry?

In all these Bible verses about worry, my favorite is Matthew 6:25-34, where we are told that we should not worry about our life, our clothing, our food, or any necessities for living.

Though the unbelieving world lives a life of constant worry, this should not be the life of the Christian. Too much worry about the things of this world can choke God’s influence in our life.

These Bible verses about worry tell us that God cares for us and loves us, so we should give all of our worries to him. We need to trust him to help us and provide us with support as he has promised throughout the Scriptures. And the apostle Paul tells us not to be anxious, but to pray to God with our requests so we can rest in peace.

What do these marriage scriptures teach us about Gods view on romantic relationships?

When we study the Bible verses about marriage that are listed above, we find that marriage is not only a wonderful union where men and women can share life as Christians, but that it is both pure and sanctified by the living God who created us all.

The two have a special union that enables them to fast, pray, and perform other spiritual activities together as one. Their intimate encounters are acceptable and blessed by God. Those Christians who find a Christian spouse in this world have found something wonderful.

All the Scriptures about marriage should encourage us in our marriage and let us know how much its pleases God that we share a godly life with the spouse we have chosen.

Yet, we can now see why Satan would like to destroy every Christian marriage through divorce and works hard to do so by a variety of methods. Because of the sanctity of marriage, God hates divorce and encourages Christians through the Bible to stay married to their mate for life.

What Does the Bible teach us about Heaven?

Of all the Bible verses about heaven, my favorite is in Revelation 21, where we are told that God will wipe away all tears, mourning, and crying, ensuring us that there will no longer be pain or death because everything is going to be changed.

During trying times on this earth, this passage has provided me much comfort. We also know that in heaven our very nature will be changed and that we will see the face of God, dwelling with him forever as partakers of eternal life.

We can see from these Bible Verses on Heaven that the after life will only be great for those who live life for God and endure until the end. There will be degrees of rewards and man will once again have access to the tree of life.

There will be no need of planetary bodies for light because the light of God will exist everywhere. In one of the quotes in implies that we can’t even imagine how wonderful it’s going to be.

Mission Work in the Bible

Probably the most important biblical passage among these Bible verses for missions is the great commission found in Matthew 28:19, where Jesus commands his followers to preach the truth to all nations.

In Bible college, I had to go on a mission trip to Mexico where people lived in clay houses on squatted land. I spoke to the crowd there and gave my testimony while it was translated into Spanish. I still find it as one of the most rewarding times in my life.

Several places in the Bible, there are scriptures about missions that mention the blessedness of those who spread the good news.

It is a necessary part of the plan of salvation and requires the power of the Holy Spirit to not only first call the missionary, but to empower him to fulfill that calling. In one passage, Jesus declares that when the gospel has been preached throughout the whole world, that then the end of the world will come.

3.

“Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.” [Jude 1:7]

11.

What does the Bible say about being gay?

These Bible verses on homosexuality describe the biblical definition of God’s ideal for a marriage relationship by defining the union as between a male and a female.

Further, in two different Old Testament passages, a clear contrast is set up defining homosexuality as when a man has sexual relations with a man like he would with a woman. The Bible calls this an “abomination” as it does other sins. These two verses shine with clarity and cannot be explained away with clever attempts to change the meaning.

We are told through these scriptures that homosexuality began when men and women abandoned God and then began to act with corrupt passions toward the same sex rather than the ideal God has established between a man and a woman.

The Scriptures warn that unless the active homosexual repents and turns to God, that he will not be saved.

Relationships in the Bible

The Bible verses about relationships listed above make it clear that sexual activity should only be between those of the opposite sex, and that anything other than that is an abomination.

In addition, sexual relationships are reserved strictly for marriage and sexual activity outside of marriage in any form is a sin.

Single Christians are also warned not to pursue any type of a romantic relationship with an unbeliever. If somebody does not believe, single Christians should not even consider dating them.

You will notice that I have included some significant passages about friendship in general and that is because a good relationship is also built on friendship, a biblical truth based on my favorite passage about romantic love where it defines those in a relationship together as both beloved and friends (Song of Songs 5:16). Read more Friendship Bible Verses.

As a friend, the Bible quotes above teach us that a true friend will love you always, stick by you, give you honest council, and will even die for you.

What do these healing scriptures teach us?

From the Bible verses about healing, we can see that not only has God healed in the past as described in the Scriptures, but that he promises to heal us in specific circumstances and situations in the here and now.

Jesus healed a lot of people with a lot of ailments and afflictions. Then his apostles and followers did the same. There is still people being healed today through prayer and faith in God.

What we can learn from the above Bible quotes about healing is that God loves us and doesn’t want us to suffer affliction, and that he wants to heal us when it is going to be beneficial to us and help us live a Christian life in service to God.

Though, having said that, it is important to understand that God may not heal ailments in situations where he is protecting us from falling into sin or from other things we don’t understand.

Baptism in the Bible

In these Bible verses about baptism, a very important passage is the one that tells us to go out and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

This is a command of Jesus, not a suggestion. As a Christian, baptism signifies a dying with Christ and being buried with him, then being resurrected to live a new life with him.

These Scriptures about baptism show how this ritual is an outward display of our acceptance into the body of Christ shown in our obedience.

There is a lot of fuss about the proper method of baptism, but the Didache, an early Christian document dated somewhere between the first and third centuries of the church, suggests that either immersion or sprinkling are both acceptable.

I have often read about churches insisting that new members be baptised again if they come from a different denomination, but those who insist on this should consider Paul’s response to the Corinthian church division over baptism in one of the passages above.

What do these bible verses teach us about God’s view of babies?

Though there are not a lot of Bible verses about babies, there are enough to get an idea about how God feels about them. Some of the Scripture passages above tell us that it is God who forms babies in the womb and that they are a blessing to mankind. Even God’s Son Jesus came into the world as a baby.

We also find mention of the great joy that comes to the mother and others when a new baby comes into the world. In some of the scripture about babies we see that God even wanted babies to be there during worship, and that Jesus said there were angels that looked after them.

We can also learn a lot from what the Bible does not say about babies. There is not even one passage in the entire Bible that mentions a baby or young child going to hell.

What Does the Bible Say About Money?

The desire to acquire huge sums of money has been practiced from the earliest times and our world is full of volumes written about how to get it, but these Bible verses about money advise us on all aspects of money and what our attitude should be.

We are not to love money or toil unceasingly for it, and we are to be content with what we have, realizing that the love of money is the root cause of a lot of the evil in the world.

The Scripture passages tell us that money can keep us from loving God or cause us to depart from the faith. They also warn that those who love money will never be satisfied no matter how much they get, and that when someone gets money too hastily rather than working for it in a steady productive manner, they will usually lose it just as quickly.

These Bible quotes about money suggest that the best situation is a balance between being poor and being rich, rather than one or the other.

Also, the Scripture on debt advises us to avoid borrowing if we can. But, we also must faithfully pay any debts that we owe.

Bible Verses about Hell

When we examine the Bible verses about hell within the Scriptures, it is difficult to deny its reality for those who willfully reject the salvation that is found in Christ.

It is Jesus himself who often warned people about the torments there and stressed its finality. Though heaven is a wonderful place of God’s blessing, hell is an awful place of suffering and not somewhere anyone would really want to go.

We have searched the biblical text to find the 20 most descriptive bible verses about hell that are appropriate for use in a Bible study, personal reflection, or a sermon about hell.

20 Scriptures on Hell

1.

“And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.” [English Standard Version, Revelation 14:11]

2.

“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” [Revelation 20:14-15]

3.

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” [Revelation 21:8]

4.

“They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,” [2 Thessalonians 1:9]

5.

“And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. What Does the Bible teach us about Hell?

I have often found myself in discussions with people who wish to deny the biblical concept of hell despite all the Bible verses on hell. They either insist it does not exist or that the punishment is not eternal.

Yet, whenever I look at Revelation 14:11, I am reminded that not only is hell real, but that the people who go there suffer in some way forever, for it says they have no rest day or night.

In the Bible, there is a lot of scriptures about the lake of fire or the outer darkness in reference to the eternal locale of the damned. It says there will be weeping and torment there with eternal destruction and contempt. It is called the second death and will be the place of all those who reject Christ and instead continue in sin. Most importantly, the Bible tells us that it was created for the devil and his angels, not for man.

What Does the Bible teach us about Change?

These Bible verses about change show us that change is a part of existence and is experienced by everyone.

One of my favorite Bible verses about change is the passage where Abraham is called out from his home by God, and obeys even though he does not know where he is going. He was wealthy and content, so this must have been difficult for him. Sometimes God calls on us to make these kinds of changes.

Other times, events like the flood or the tower of Babel bring about change in the world that has an impact on everybody.

Some of these Scripture quotes tell us God wants us to change and renew our minds, living a holy life in contrast to the ungodliness in this world. In doing so, he promises us that we will be changed, mortality putting on immortality and the physical becoming spiritual.

Though everything in existence experiences change, we are comforted in knowing that God does not change and that his promises in Scripture are certain.

What does funeral scripture teach us about life, death?

This page on Bible verses for funerals conveys the reality that death is real for all men and women on the face of the earth, and that death is a path that all of us will some day traverse.

With death comes sorrow and mourning for those loved ones left behind even if we know that those family members or friends who have died have gone on to be with Jesus. Even Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus. Yet, as Christians, we can also find comfort in knowing they are in heaven because of the promises we find among these Scripture passages.

Many of these biblical quotes used in funerals also speak of a coming resurrection in which death will be defeated and we will all live with God–giving us an assurance that we will never die again after that. They tell us that the first death is not a real death; that when Jesus returns, our bodies will rise from the grave into eternal life.

These Bible verses about addiction identify some specific addictions as sinful, such as sexual immorality, alcoholism, and gluttony, with others such as drugs, pornography, gambling, and excessive shopping clearly implied.

Anything that enslaves you causes you to be its servant, which hinders you from serving God and being there for the people that need you in their lives. We are warned that those who continue in that way of life will not enter into the kingdom of God.

What do these bible verses teach us about God’s view of children?

After reading all the Bible verses about children in the list above, we discover some interesting facts that not only increase our biblical knowledge, but provide us with advice we can apply in raising and caring for our own children.

Many of the Scripture passages show God’s love for children, but we are also instructed in the necessity of disciplining our own child if we really love him while being certain not to provoke or discourage him. He tells us to love them and discipline them in love.

A family with children is considered to be blessed and fortunate because several passages speak of children as a wonderful reward for those who serve and follow God. Yet, with children, the Bible quotes warns us about our responsibility to raise them as Christians by teaching them about God. We are also supposed to financially save so we can take care of them, not the other way around.

What do these Bible verses for strength teach us?

One thing that we really find clearly conveyed in the Bible verses for strength that we have selected is that the source of a Christian’s strength is from God and in God. When he is with us and behind us on any task to which he has sent us, God will equip us with his strength–a strength that the Bible describes as greater than any other in the entire universe.

There is not any person or any spiritual power that can stand up to the God who created the universe.

There are times when we may feel like we do not have the strength needed to carry on. And Jesus can probably relate to us on this since he struggled in the garden before the crucifixion, praying in turmoil to his Father. Yet, God gave him the strength to carry on. He will do the same for us.
