My formal observation

by Ruth ()

Hi,
I am a first-year English teacher and have my official observation on Tuesday. This goes on my record, so I am extremely nervous and really need to score at least proficient or above in all areas. I feel like teaching is my calling, but I need confidence and to know if this is where God wants me to be. Please pray that my strengths and skills as a teacher will come shining through during this observation and that all the scores will be highly proficient.

Thank you so much!

  1. Prayer for Teacher Observation

Hallelujah! Thank you Lord for your grace and mercy which you have given us today. Praise and honor to you our Father. Holy Spirit we seek your direction in prayer at all times, for all types of conversations with God, as we take seriously our role in the kingdom work of God as educators. Ephesians 6:18 Lord, we are praying for and during all circumstances, which helps us stay on track as we strive to make a difference in the world through our Christ-like behavior.

Lord you said in John 16:24 …Ask and we will receiveā€¦Lord be with us during our teacher observation. Providing us with the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7.

Job 28:24 for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens. Thank you Lord for see and knowing the ins and outs of our teacher observation. And for show us how to conduct ourselves during this time.

Lord, we ask that your presence and wisdom be with us during our observations.

Lord, help us to prepare an observation lessons which provide clear context in demonstrating the goal of the lesson, its relationship to the state curriculum, or any particular aspects of the lesson which we would like the observer to notice.

Lord allow the technology to work as it should during our observation. Additionally, Lord help us to create a backup plan if for some reason, we need to shift from technology.

Lord help us not to present a dog and pony show for the observation, but an authentic lesson which continues to benefit the academic needs of our students and fits into what we are currently teaching, so our students aren’t wondering why they’re learning something totally unrelated to what they’ve been studying.

Lord help us to use the best lesson strategies during our observation which our students are familiar with and to check for their understanding and to answer their questions.

Lord while the observation is happening, help us with our cues to encourage student participation. Lord let our interactions show the positive relationship we have with our students. Lord help us to use wait time to allow students to think before volunteering an answer.

Lord allow the students’ behavior to be on point and receptive to our reminders about the expected classroom behavior as they do daily also to happen during the observation.

Lord, we are seeking your same guidance and presence during our classroom observation as we seek in our classroom daily.

Lord let us have an observer like in Psalm 78:72 who has an upright heart and guides us with a skillful hand.

Lord hear our prayer and supplications. In Jesus Name Amen
