I need help. My husband is a narcissist. This can be difficult, and right now we are in the middle of his anger/depression over Halloween. My daughter and I have had spiritual convictions about Halloween, unsure how to navigate it. My husband has no convictions and loves skeletons, darkness, and things that don’t align with our values. We don’t stop him from doing what he does, but this year he got fed up that we don’t like Halloween and is giving everything away. Not out of love but out of anger. He wants to punish us, no Halloween/trick or treating (we are ok with that), he’s giving away all our exterior Christmas decorations. He thinks it’s hilarious that he’s giving our neighbors Halloween stuff, so we’ll still have to see it. That’s the kind of hate and spite he has for us, because we are not a fan of Halloween. We never told him not to decorate. But he is blaming us. And talking about us negatively to our neighbors.
God is in control, perhaps this was the way to help us stop celebrating Halloween. But my husband’s hate and disdain is hard to deal with.
I feel so alone, I hate when he’s mad at me, but most importantly I want to protect our daughter from emotional abuse.
