Lord, they don’t know You, but we do.
We know what Your soul went through
to win their hearts; to change their lives,
to give them hope and peace and love.
May we demonstrate that love trumps hate,
that fear can’t stand in the face of love.
Increase our faith, O Lord, we pray,
that we could love the worst today!
That we would bless instead of curse,
that only good we would rehearse!
That when we’re struck, we’d not strike back,
but give forgiveness without lack.
That You would heal those broken hearts
that don’t know how to love.
Jesus, give us hearts of sheep,
as harmless as of doves.
For we know where we’re going
if we believe in You,
and we know where they’re going
if they refuse the truth.
As You did on the cross,
and as Stephen prayed at death,
let us forgive our killers,
and love them to the end.
So more like Saul would turn brand new,
convicted by the love of You!
