Her name is Stephany. I’m 38, and she’s 39, but I call her my girlfriend, because that’s the appropriate title even though it makes us look like high school kids. She’s a wonderful person, but she has depression, and I think, anxiety too although I don’t know if she’s been diagnosed with that, and of course, it gets bad sometimes.
That, I can deal with. I signed on for this. I knew she had these problems before we started our relationship, but it hurts when she’s so down on herself. She says that she doesn’t deserve me, that I’d be happier with another woman, etc. I love to give her comfort the same way I love to be affectionate to her, but she has tried to end things with me before because she feels like she’s going to hurt me someday. I tell her, I’m onboard no matter what, but she thinks, because of my emotional atatchment to her, that I’m not thinking clearly.
Guys, its true that I don’t want to lose my girlfriend, so my request has two parts. Yes, I’d love for you guys to pray for us as a couple, that I won’t lose her and we’ll flourish together, I really do want this to be permanent, but the other part’s important too. I’d argue more important.
I’d just like for you guys to pray that God gives her comfort and peace. I want her to see the many good things about herself. She doesn’t deserve to feel this way about herself. I do my best to comfort and encourage her, but some things have happened in her life including her financially needing to move in with me before she feels ready to do that. Honestly, she has had problems with depending on a guy before due to his behavior and her not having a place to go, so even though she knows I’m not him, it has really exacerbated things. We need the lord’s help, and I’ve heard that its good to have others pray for/with you. I appreaciate you guys reading this and any attention you give it.
