God Protects His Children – Tuesday, May 14th, 2019

My job tonight is to patrol the floors of the hotel to make sure all the gymnasts obey curfew. I will watch and listen and walk the halls to ensure that the athletes follow the rules. In that way, they will be rested and ready for their competition.

I don’t anticipate any trouble. If the girls want to compete well, they will follow the rules. They have worked too hard to throw away their opportunity to succeed at Nationals just to stay up late.
As Christians we should also be diligent about watching and guarding our faith against the intrusion of temptations that may steer us away from God in Christ. On the night of His arrest, Jesus told His disciples, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation” (Matthew 26:41).

Staying strong in faith means partnering with the Holy Spirit in prayer and being alert to the pitfalls of temptation that come our way. It means letting the Spirit keep us close to God in Christ so we can follow Him instead of our sinful desires.

Let the Spirit guard your faith and take you to the cross of Christ, where you can watch and pray and see the salvation of our God.
