Prayer for My Brokenness

by Virginia (Surprise, AZ)

My Dearest Almighty God, Here I am again, another day to add to my more than 60 years.

Throughout my years, I have prayed to you. Most of the time giving thanks for all the things you have provided to me, for your care and love.

For the past few months, I have been so down; my sons lost their jobs and now I am doing my best to help them. For my oldest son, I moved out of my house leaving some of my things behind because I did not have room in a 500 sq ft apartment. He and his wife went through my things and gave what they did not want away. He has painted the walls in my home black, he sleeps until 1:00pm and has done nothing to look for a job. He is now mad at me because I told him that his giving my things away was wrong and I would pick up anything that is now left.

My other son decided that he would take back the refrigerator he gave me. So, I had to go buy a new one for the house where my oldest son is now living rent free with me paying his utilities. He has proclaimed the house to be his and will not let me enter. There is a broken window that I need to replace.

Dear God; have you turned your back on me? What have I done? I do not understand. Even when my son tells me I am a fool for believing in you, I respond that you are a God for all people and you love him. I tell him to put his problems at your feet and leave them there.

My God, Holey Father; I still believe in you. It seems that you have shut your ears and closed your eyes. My prayers go into the air, for I feel that you do not want to hear from me. I am sad, I am now alone because you called my husband home. I need a sign from you that you still care and you know that I am almost broken. God, please give me strength to meet each day, strength to look and find ways to help my children and to pay my obligations. Please show me the way.

  1. Do not let your hearts be troubled...

When Jesus prayed for his friend Lazarus, he began with “Father, I thank You for hearing Me .” He offered words of gratitude for the greatest gift of all – God’s friendship and love. He trusted that his Father knew what he needed before he even asked. He knew that his father would give him the right gifts at the right time. He hears every prayer you make, even if he always answer right away. He weeps with you in your sorrow. He may not give you what you ask me for, but he will give you something good, perhaps an increased compassion for the suffering of others or a greater heLing further down the road. Best of all, he will give you a deeper relationship with himself.
Pope Francis said: Blessed are you who cry now, because you will be consoled. And that word is like he himself wiping away our tears.

Do not let your hearts be troubled; have faith in God and faith also in Me. John 14:1

  4. Thank You

So many people have left kind and gentle comments, you make me feel so much better. You know, there are times when you get so low that you do not know what to do. I hit bottom when I placed my prayer here. I did not expect anything, just needed to put my prayer out in a place that was not hidden in my bedroom. That night I actually thought about killing myself. But, instead I prayed and it was not for myself but for everyone and the world in general. At the end, I told God that I was grateful to him. That night I dreamed, a peaceful dream of nature and in the dream was a man who said that I should just leave my problem with God and not to worry. So, I let my problems stay in that prayer and moved forward. My life has changed in so many ways. I have peace. I do not have much money and neither of my children will talk to me, but it is okay. I rediscovered what is important, I rediscovered my faith in the Almighty Father. I am now back to praying, but all my prayers are remembering those who pray and always thanksgiving for the love of God. For all of you wonderful people, you will be in my prayers tonight and always!
