I am something

by Halima (Nigeria)

They say I am nothing

That I have got nothing to offer
No money, no Laurels, no title to my name
And on the list of achievers,
My name seem to be missing

They look at me,
And they seem not to see a thing of value
Something that is atleast of worth
No gifts and skills that can blow minds away
No talent that can make the world stand still

They say I am a nobody
That I do not come from a lineage of world shakers
And neither am I from the loins of achievers
With their tongues clicking and clacking at me
They stab me with hurtful words

They are so quick to judge me
Just too quick to write me off
Saying nothing good comes from where I came from
Concluding that I won’t amount to anything good
Simply because I look poor

In the midst of all these, there is just one eternal truth that they fail to see
I am a child of the most High God,
Blessed with all spiritual blessing in Heavenly places
I am blessed because God loves me
I am blessed because I have life
I am blessed because His grace surrounds me
I am blessed because He took me from darkness and brought me into His marvelous light.
I am blessed because I was blind but now I see
I am blessed because I was dead in sin but now, I am alive in Christ
I am alive because His mercy kept me
I am rich because He gave all for me to have all
I am favoured beyond imagination
I am blessed beyond measure
I am special and unique
Taken from the miry clay,
Made into Gods very image and likeness.
Taken from nothing and made into something.
A little girl I am but God values me and is mindful of me.
That alone counts for something.
I won’t trade this life for another
And would never even dream of trading places with any being in the whole universe.
Ive got Jesus and that is ALL that matters.

If God be for us, who can be against us? Never let people or situations make you feel less than who you are. God bless you
